Love Is An Ocean

They live on a land

Locked away from the sea

Hearing stories of seafoam storms

Bringing terror

But that isn’t for them

So oceans are simply just that

A story,

At least to them

To them those greens and blues

Are of soft leaves and loud birds

Things that rest upon the ground before them

Tangible, easy to see

Things that were given to them

Things they’ve grown from a seed

Types of love that come easy to them

To them, there is no ocean

That type of love is something

they simply can’t see

But to her

As her toes bend and curl, throwing sand around her feet

Shallow clear liquid pushing toward her

She takes a step back

So much to fear

Another step

The liquid creeping toward her

She stands frozen

Emotions flooding in

A presence looms just beyond her shoulder

Brooding and dark

It’s in front of her and behind her

To her, the ocean is something

She can not escape

Because it was here

At this same sea

Where he pushed her to the edge

Showed her how to fear

Water filling her lungs

Bubbles escaping past pretty pink lips

Pushing its way to the edges of her cracking heart

While clawing at the hand pushing her under

Blue fills her vision and her heart

He loves me she thought

Apparently, He loves her not

But to him

As the ocean traces droplets on his skin

Salt clinging to pruning pores

He never wants to get out

He wants to drift away

Bore himself to the waves of power

Let waves of soft foam consume him

And never let him leave

Here he feels loved

Here he loves you

They are here

Within the greens, tans and blues

No holes to be seen

Not even a bump

Just like them

Hiding under the surface

They are made of the coral

Healthy and pure

Even in sickness and in health

If one falls

The other falls too

Nothing can break them apart

The ocean and love

Are one in the same

So different from the other

But so much the same

I am who I am

And I’ll love who I love

Just like the sea

Calling to me
